5 Signs You Should Invest in Attic Insulation in Las Vegas

Spring is almost over, making now a great time to spruce up your home and get ready for the long days of summer. In addition to maintenance prep like checking your air conditioner and checking the caulking around doors and windows, you should also check your home's insulation levels and whether current insulation should be replaced.

To help navigate between the good and bad, here are 5 signs that it's time to install or replace attic insulation in Las Vegas:

  1. Fluctuating Indoor Temperatures.  If your home's room temperatures are constantly in flux between hot and cold, there's a good chance that there's an issue with your insulation. Sometimes insulation shifts and heat is more apt to transfer in and out of your home, while other times the amount you have is simply insufficient.
  2. Absurd energy bills.  Talk to neighbors and owners of similar house plans or sizes to get a good idea of what a normal energy bill is. If your energy bills seem to spike unnecessarily high, especially during the summer, than it might be a lack of proper attic insulation in Las Vegas that's causing your AC to work double time to make up for incoming heat.
  3. Unwanted animal guests.  If you're hearing critters upstairs, call a Las Vegas insulation contractor to inspect for traces in your home's insulation. Small animals, such as rats, have a tendency to infiltrate attics, especially during the cooler months. Once summer comes around they might leave, but in their wake is feces, grime, and potential corpses in your insulation that can negatively impact your air quality.
  4. Wet insulation. Roof leaks are one of the more troubling problems for homeowners. Not only can they compromise roof integrity, but they can also lead to wet insulation that's unsafe and unsalvageable. That's because when this material is damp it becomes both ineffective and a breeding ground for mold that releases dangerous toxins into the air.
  5. Odd interior drafts.  If your insulation wasn't installed by an experienced Las Vegas insulation contractor, then you run a high risk for having indoor drafts. Interior drafts occur when insulation wasn't properly laid down, or it was done so in uneven amounts.

If you've noticed any of these signs in your home, then it's a good time to invest in home insulation in Las Vegas. Contact us at First Quality Roofing & Insulation to learn more about installing insulation and to request a personalized quote.
