Despite how much love and attention you put into your home, many of its parts have finite lives.  Even the most important items, such as your roof, are only meant to be around for a limited amount of years before Father Time tells you to replace them.

Like anything in life, Las Vegas roof leak repairs are most successful when they're serviced as soon as trouble begins.  If you fix weak and vulnerable points in your roof early, you'll only extend the life of your home's protective covering.

As a homeowner, it is important that you recognize two key categories of places where roof leaks can commonly occur: penetrations and perimeters.

  • Penetrations.  Penetrations refer to any place where your roof's surface is interrupted so an object can pass through it.  Penetrations include things such as chimneys, skylights, stacks, roof drains, and expansion joints.  In any place where penetrations occur, your roof is more susceptible to leaks because the seams, sealants, and membranes used to close the gaps between the roof and the penetrating device can easily wear with time and exposure to the elements.

Extreme temperatures can also cause stress on sealants used where penetrations occur.  Many Las Vegas roof leak repairs involve the replacement of such sealants whereby severe heat and the Nevada sun diminish the viability of the product.  Without proper care and attention, weakened penetrations give way to leaks that can ultimately lead to severe damage if they're not repaired in a timely manner.

  • Perimeters.  When your roof ends, the edge of your roofing material meets inflexible sheet metal flashings where sealants can become vulnerable to water damage.  This intersection of materials is known as your roof's perimeter, and if the sheet metal material isn't properly shedding water, a build-up of moisture can occur, resulting in inevitable leaks and other damage within your walls and roofing system.

Extreme temperature changes from day to night can result in thermal shock - the expansion and contraction of your home's materials.  This regional attribute makes perimeter checks particularly imperative in the prevention of roof leaks.

Las Vegas roof leak repairs should only be handled by licensed professionals who will care for your home just as they would care for their very own.  If you're uncertain how severe your roof problems are, take our quiz to find out then contact First Quality Roofing & Insulation at 702.262.7847 to schedule your appointment!
