There are a lot of myths about roofs floating around, ones that -if believed- are only going to lead to more visits from your friendly neighborhood Las Vegas professional roofers.  Homeowners can save themselves a lot of money simply by keeping their roof in good shape, and NOT believing these things is a great way to start.

Five Roofing Myths You Should NOT Believe

1 - A single missing shingle or broken tile isn't worth repairing.

False!  Every shingle and tile on top of your roof works together with all the others to keep your home safe and dry.  Even a single missing shingle or broken tile opens up a hole in your roof's "armor," allowing water, insects, and other problems to enter, while also letting your AC out.

2 - It's only time to replace a roof once wear becomes visible.

Wrong!  Wear and tear on a roof is hard to see from the exterior, especially if someone is only looking from below.  Many of the biggest problems with roofs such as mold infestations only happen out of sight, on the underside of shingles. It takes close inspection from professionals to know when it's time for a major re-roofing job.

3 - Roof ventilation doesn't matter for an attic.

Nope.  It's extremely important that an attic have proper ventilation via the roof, otherwise it can easily become a breeding ground for molds and fungus due to warm, moist air getting trapped inside.  Good vents on the roof are a necessity.

4 - Wait for damage before doing roof inspections\repairs.

Please don't.  Las Vegas professional roofers are here to tell you, prevention will save a lot of money in the long run.  Yearly professional inspections and maintenance of your roof will spot problems before they cause major damage.

5 - Why hire professionals?  Just work on it yourself.

No!  Roofing work is dangerous business, even for the pros.  A fall from a rooftop can easily cripple or even kill people, and it happens far too often every year.  You really should not climb onto your own roof. If it is an absolute must, do so only briefly, and as infrequently as possible.
